Experienced Field Service Engineer (CNC Machine Tools) – Subcontract / UK Wide

We are looking to partner with experienced, self-employed Field Service Engineers who can keep a mixed fleet of CNC machines running smoothly across the UK. The core of our workload centres on brands such as Nakamura, Quaser and Chiron but we also service a handful of other machine-tool makes so the broader your brand knowledge, the better. We are looking to establish long-term, regular relationships with trusted engineers to funnel consistent work to. Key Responsibilities: Routine Maintenance: Scheduled servicing, lubricant changes, filter swaps, belt checks, etc. Repairs & Fault Finding: Diagnosing mechanical or electrical faults, sourcing parts, and installing them to restore full functionality. Calibration: Verifying and adjusting positioning, backlash, and probing systems so each machine holds tight tolerances. Current Machine Status: Machine conditions vary across sites. Some units are fully operational but due for their scheduled servicing, while others are currently down with faults ranging from minor alarms to complex spindle or axis issues. Required Deliverables: A full detailed service report for every machine touched (detailing work performed, parts fitted, and before/after readings). Clear recommendations for any necessary follow-up actions. Requirements: Proven, solid experience diagnosing and repairing Nakamura, Quaser, and Chiron machines. Ability to adapt quickly to other machine tool brands. Must be self-employed with your own valid Public Liability Insurance. Comfortable with travel to customer sites (specific locations and territories to be discussed).
