Our goal is to create and implement an impulse response module for our amplifier products. The Impulse response module will effectively emulate the placement of a particular microphone at a particular placement and distance near a guitar speaker. This is accomplished by reading in an impulse response .wav and processing it 20-20kHz against a line level input and generating a stereo line level output in near real time. At a high level the hardware is expected to consist of 5 major components along with their supporting components. The major components are a buck style voltage regulator to supply power, a microprocessor with embedded UART and I/O support, an audio digital signal processor with ADC’s and DAC’s, a serial flash memory chip, and lastly, a Bluetooth chip. Our expectations are to be able to support 16 .wav files and to be able to select positions 1-16 discretely. The .wav files will be stored on an embedded file storage system compatible with Apple and Windows based computers for easy uploading/downloading via USB/Bluetooth from Apple and Windows based computer systems. This will allow and end-user to load their own IR .wav files and select from up to 16 stored preset locations in an easy to navigate UI.
