Linux watchdog control application

We are seeking a programmer to create a watchdog application that will set, arm, and refresh a custom watchdog timer that controls a set of fail open ethernet ports on our appliances.

Currently, we are accomplishing this task via a watchdog test tool and several scripts that set the bypass mode, arm the watchdog timer, and refresh the watchdog timer. We are seeking an integrated solution that can be inserted into Debian linux as a binary and activated via init scripts.

Presently, the test tool is placed in the file system. The set bypass mode script is run early in the init.d boot process. The arm and refresh scripts are loaded last in the init.d boot process.

I am not a programmer, and I know the way we are currently accomplishing this task is not correct.

I have attached the source for the watchdog test tool, the scripts that I have written to set the bypass mode, arm the watchdog, and refresh the watchdog, and the appliance manual.
