I have a pointcloud file of x,y,and z co-ordinates...I need you to
translate these co-ordinates into a mesh file using any number
of software languages... I need you to find a standard API
for taking these co-ordinates and creating a standard STL
file... I know these are new terms for you to understand...
But this is the future.. You will learn a lot on this project...
If your a Java expert and can create standard functions that
read x,y,and z co-ordinates... That is a bonus... I will send you
a sample file and tell you about other software packages that you
can use in the process... The basic concept, take a file with just
points and create triangles from these co-ordinates, and when
we have processed all the triangles (x,y, and z) we have a mesh...
All the mesh does is take the (x,y,and z's) and merge then
all together into one big file.... Once you reply to my project ,
I will send you the sample pointcloud file...You will be able
to understand more when u see that..I always give a good
bonus for work done..
## Deliverables
I have sent you a pointcloud file...Can you do
anything with it ... I need you to create a mesh
from the x,y,and Z data????? See if you can find and
open source API that can read this type of file,
a text file, and create a mesh and then a STL file...
Do you know what a mesh is ??? Google has
some files out there that are xxx.3dm.. Please download
a 3dm file to see what a real mesh file is...
The file that I am sending you is a pointcloud...
Which is a standard text file of co-ordinates..
See if you can find a routine in Java,c++,vbasic,
or whatever software program that can read this data...
The hardest part of this project will find an API
to create the standard STL file.... The blimp file
was created from a 3dm file You can download
the trial version of rhineoceros 4.0 and create this
pointcloud file...If you want to understand the
internals... of what is going on here....
