We are planning an integration of our current video management system with Lenel, a manufacturer of access control systems, including card readers, sensors, and management software.
Lenel has a complete SDK and API, which we will purchase for the project. The specific API to be used is 'OpenVideo':
The integration requires a Lenel 'driver' that conforms to their COM interfaces. This allows them to request video from certain times of day / cameras and notify our system when events occur such as card swipes or door opening. All user interaction is done from their user interface to give a Lenel user a consistent GUI regardless of the underlying video software or DVR.
We would need to implement all of the required interfaces as listed in the document, as well as the IVideo and IVideo2 interfaces. Our video is stored in WMV format, and is accessed using the Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 SDK, which is also based around COM: [login to view URL]
Our system communicates through HTTP requests to our web server, so when messages were sent to the driver from the Lenel platform, they would need to be passed on to our system through an HTTP request with the proper GET or POST variables.
When Lenel requests video, a request would be made to our server with time and camera number, to determine the filename and time offset into the file to start, for example: http://videosystem/[login to view URL];camera=3×tamp=12345678966434 would return an XML serialized structure with the required info. CSV or other format can be returned instead of XML if preferred. That information would be formatted and used to control the Format SDK, which would begin decompressing the video, providing DIB images for each frame. Lenel would provide a window handle that these images would need to be drawn to.
The project would require complete testing using a running Video Appliance, and the test suite provided by Lenel which allows for simulation of several situations. In addition, the code must be well architected and commented /documented for future debugging and refinement by in-house development staff.
