Skillprover UK Ltd are looking for a talented developer who has 5 years+ experience of developing MFC C++ applications. The application the company is looking to develop is a simple custom browser application that will display HTML pages within a single window. There will be a toolbar for search functionality.
The following restrictions will apply:
Developed only in VS6 MFC C++ and NOT DotNet Managed C++.
All code and resources must be handed over at each test release. I will recompile and test.
SDI architecture i.e. single window with a menu and a toolbar.
Should run on all flavours of modern 32 bit windows except Windows 98/95. (ie. no 16 bit extensions)
EITHER WISE OR INSTALLSHIELD are trusted installers not the VS one.
Do not bid if the above requirements cannot be met.
The SDI Window:
-- entitled “Skilprover User Guide & Resources”
-- Search Pages, with a text box (use the binoculars icon)
The task is to write a C++ application that will self install when placed onto a CD-ROM and inserted into a computer. During the installation, the installer needs to ask the location to install the application with a default of:
There are HTML files which I will supply which has to be part of the install distribution and will need to be dumped in the subdirectory HTML under the chosen install path above (you will need to create it)
The installer will put a entry called “Skillprover” in All Programs and within the “Skillprover” entry, a sub entry called “User Guide and Resources”.
The installer will ask if they would like a shortcut to the application on the desktop the icon of which will be the .ICO file supplied.
This must display a popup window with the WinZip icon above this text.
“You can update help from file SPUGR.zip. Contact your Skillprover representative for the latest self-extracting update. You must extract this to ”
This must display a popup window with the companies .ICO file above this text:
“This application, icons and logo are the intellectual property and registered trademarks of Skillprover UK Ltd.”
WHEN THE APPLICATION BOOTS UP...
All the code has do is display “[url removed, login to view]” in the window from the files I supply and the hyperlinks within the HTML will redisplay in the same window.
The “binoculars” icon will search for the string listed in the textbox next to it. If there is no text but the icon is clicked, display a suitable error.
The code behind this function must search through all .HTM files containing that string in the /HTML directory created by the installer and display the titles of the files as a list of hyperlinks that can be clicked on. Once a file is clicked on, the file is displayed with the actual search string text highlighted in the file.
WHAT I WILL SUPPLY
1 .ICO file
Many HTML files
THE MOST DIFFICULT BIT
Is the search functionality. Somehow you’ve got to do a directory search and for every file containing string, identify the tag, since this will be displayed as a hyperlink in the window. Once the user has clicked on the hyperlink, the file is displayed with the strings highlighted in reverse video (or fixed color). Messy.
You can use classes if you want, but code must be documented in the source only. Don’t invite us to consider redevelopment in Dot Net or using the VS installer. Thanks.
Remember to make sure there are NO MEMORY LEAKS. This application will potentially be installed on 1500 desktops worldwide. I have several years C++ myself and will be sanctioning the code.
Only bids of around US$700 and below will be considered. More is paid for past credentials.
