My commercial build is almost at practical completion and I need a quantity surveyor who can step in immediately to close out every remaining materials order. The drawings, BOQs and supplier lists are already in place; what I’m missing is a cost-savvy professional who can audit what has been purchased, confirm what is still required, and secure the last deliveries without inflating the budget or stalling the hand-over date. The core of the assignment is materials procurement. You’ll review current purchase records against on-site consumption, prepare an updated shortfall schedule, obtain fresh quotations where gaps exist, and issue or adjust purchase orders so that the site team receives everything in time for final fix and commissioning. Clear communication with suppliers and the site manager is essential, and I expect regular status summaries so that any risk to programme or cost is flagged early. Deliverables (all digital, editable files): • Reconciled materials schedule showing ordered, delivered, outstanding and surplus items • At least three comparative quotes for any new or varied orders above the agreed threshold • Updated purchase orders ready for my signature • Weekly progress brief (one-page) until completion of procurement scope Experience with commercial fit-outs, strong negotiation skills and proficiency in MS Excel or a similar cost-tracking tool will help you hit the ground running.
