Description: I have a high-resolution, colored LAZ point cloud and its derived DTM covering a freshwater lake and the surrounding terrain. The goal is to convert this data into a clean 3D surface model in Blender, and then create a realistic animation visualizing the water level fluctuating between a defined maximum and minimum regulation capacity for a professional presentation. If the result of this project is successful, we have several similar survey visualization projects lined up for the near future. Scope Data Conversion & Cleanup: Import the colored LAZ data and DTM into Blender. Reconstruct it into a continuous surface/mesh model. The vertex colors from the LAZ data must be preserved or baked onto the mesh so the topography and ground cover read clearly on screen. Water Animation (Max to Min): Build the water body representing the lake. Animate the water level gradually shifting between a specified maximum and minimum elevation value, pausing at key levels to clearly demonstrate the shoreline changes. Technique: You can use geometry nodes, custom shaders, or physics simulation. The water surface needs to look realistic (subtle ripples, appropriate transparency/refraction), and it must interface cleanly with the terrain mesh without unnatural clipping or seepage through the banks. Camera & Presentation: Create smooth, professional camera movements (fly-over or orbit) suitable for a technical presentation. The framing should focus on how the shoreline advances and retreats, and highlight critical low points or exposed areas at minimum capacity. Deliverables Final MP4 Clip: 1080p (or 4K), 30/60fps, optimized for slide decks and live presentations. The .blend File: Fully organized with all assets, modifiers, materials, and baked animations intact for future adjustments. High-Res Stills: Rendered still frames capturing the scene at absolute minimum level, maximum level, and a midway point. Acceptance Criteria Scale Accuracy: The scene scale and water elevation levels must strictly match the real-world units/metres provided in the metadata. Visual Quality: The terrain must look like a solid, textured surface (not a loose point cloud) with crisp visualization of the terrain features. Performance: The viewport and render setup must be optimized for mid-range GPUs (clean geometry, efficient shading). I will supply the coordinate system details, reference heights (Max/Min values in metres), and metadata upon hiring.
