I have an existing Excel workbook that currently relies on manual submissions. All the figures we need already live in a SQL Server database; they simply have to appear in the correct cells of the form and then trigger the usual calculations and formatting the sheet already performs. Here is what I need from you: connect Excel to SQL Server, pull the required numeric fields, map them to the form’s input range, and set the process to refresh on demand (button or scheduled refresh—whichever is cleaner). The workbook must stay fully functional for colleagues who are not technical, so the solution should run with a single click and require no additional installs beyond standard Office components. VBA, Power Query, or a lightweight Add-in are all acceptable, provided they are reliable and easy to maintain. Please preserve the existing formulas, protect the layout, and add any error-handling that prevents blank or partially-filled submissions. Once finished, hand over the updated workbook and a brief setup note so I can deploy it on other machines that connect to the same SQL Server instance.

Hi, I can automate your existing Excel workbook to pull the required data directly from SQL Server and place it into the correct form fields while keeping all current formulas, formatting, and layout intact. I’ve done similar Excel–SQL automation projects using VBA, Power Query, and SQL Server, including one-click refresh, data mapping, validation, and error handling. The final workbook will be simple for non-technical users to operate and will not require additional software beyond standard Office components. I’ll also provide a short setup note so it can be deployed on other machines easily. Send me the workbook and the SQL field details, and I can review the structure and recommend the cleanest approach right away. I’m ready to start and can take this through to a fully working, deployment-ready solution. Terima kasih !

Hi there, You have an existing Excel form relying on manual entry. The goal is to bridge this workbook with your SQL Server to fetch, map, and populate specific numeric fields automatically. It must operate seamlessly for non-technical users via a single-click refresh, without breaking existing formulas, layouts, or requiring extra local installations. Technical approach: - Utilize Excel Power Query (M Code) for its zero-install footprint and native SQL Server integration. - Create a parameterized SQL pull to fetch exact numeric fields. - Map queried tables to specific locked cell ranges, triggering your calculation chain natively. - Embed lightweight VBA for a single-click refresh button and pre-submission validation (blank/null checks). Core modules: - Data Fetching: Secure, read-only SQL connection pulling targeted records. - Validation Logic: Checks preventing empty/partial data propagation. - Form Protection: Locked layout ensuring integrity. - Deployment: Setup instructions for multi-machine rollout. Relevant systems: - Social Media Content Generator (Automated Google Sheets/Data pipelines) - Bison360 ERP (Complex SQL database syncs) Implementation strategy: I will review your workbook and SQL schema, build the connection, map fields, and layer validation checks. I will then hand over the finalized workbook and a concise SQL credential setup guide for your team. Regards, Rohit

I will connect your Excel workbook to your SQL Server database using Power Query (native, no extra installs) or VBA (ADODB) – whichever you prefer. I will map the required numeric fields to the form’s input range, trigger the existing calculations and formatting, and set up a one‑click refresh (button or scheduled). I will preserve all formulas, protect the layout, and add error handling for blank/partial submissions. The workbook will remain fully functional for non‑technical colleagues. Deliverables: updated workbook, brief setup/deployment notes. **Example Projects:** https://www.freelancer.com/u/ukokab?review_context_id=40409504&review_type=project&frm=ukokab&sb=t https://www.freelancer.com/u/ukokab?review_context_id=40330501&review_type=project&frm=ukokab&sb=t **Timeline:** 3‑4 days Best, Usman K https://www.freelancer.com/u/ukokab

Two things in your brief pull against each other, and it is worth sorting before anyone starts. You want the SQL figures to land in the form's input cells, and you want the existing formulas and layout preserved. Power Query cannot do both. A query lands as a table and every refresh rewrites that whole range, so anything sitting in those cells gets wiped and neighbouring rows shift. The clean way is to let Power Query land on a hidden staging sheet, and have the form pull from it, or write the values into the mapped cells with ADO from VBA so nothing around them is touched. I usually go with the second one when the sheet is already protected, because you can protect with UserInterfaceOnly set to true and then VBA writes without ever unprotecting the sheet for your colleagues. The other one is the no extra installs line. The old SQLOLEDB provider is deprecated and MSOLEDBSQL is a separate download, so a connection string built on either will break on a machine that only has Office. The ODBC SQL Server driver ships with Windows, so that is what I would build the connection on. Works everywhere without asking IT for anything. End result is one button, refresh on demand, error handling for a dropped connection or a renamed column, and a short note on where the connection string lives. Question.. is the workbook already sheet protected, and does the SQL side give you a view or do we query the base tables? Ronak

Hi I can connect your existing Excel form to SQL Server using Power Query/VBA, map database fields into the required cells, and add a simple one-click refresh with robust error handling. I’ll preserve formulas/layout/protection and provide a deployment-ready workbook with a concise setup guide. Can you share the existing Excel workbook so I can review its form structure and calculations? Do you already have the SQL Server table/query and required field mapping available?
