Here is what I am looking for....
Important: The bids on this will be per completed 30 minutes of edited work. This means 30 minutes of audio in the file you return to me, or once the returned files accumulate a total of 30 minutes. It is not the number of minutes I send to you, it is the number of cleaned up minutes you send back to me.
I will provide a script and raw unedited audio tracks of my reads on audiobook scripts.
They will contain outtakes, double (sometimes 3-4 consecutive reads), long pauses in some places, possible coughing or other unwanted utterances, etc. It is not unusual for a 35 minute file to be cut down to around 20 minutes, so there is a lot of cutting and editing involved. You cannot skip or skim as the work will require listening carefully to the entire file at least once.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to edit this down to audiobook quality audio. This means removing all outtakes, deleting long pauses, perhaps determining the appropriate spacing for segments (e.g. the same sentence will be less space than the next paragraph - which will both be less space than a new section or segment in the book).
I also need you to denote any complete misreads (hopefully these will be few and far between). If there are any other concerns that you feel will need my editorial attention, you will need to note these too (may be a mouth noise, background clammering, etc). These should be noted by a brief description and the timemark of the issue in the returned file.
I have included a sample of a typical read of about 7 minutes. If you would like to cut it down to show me what you can do with my work sample you are welcome to do so.
The will not require any post-production work other than editing and cutting. You must return the mp3 files with a sampling rate of 41000 and 192Kbps constant encoding just as they are provided to you. Do not change these attributes in the files for any reason.
To be clear, you are not being asked to edit for content, just edit the audio to match the script.
This job may lead to semi-regular ongoing work. I am looking for an editor that can complete an hour of editing assignment within 24-36 hours.
So that I know that you understand, please copy this statement into your response:
"I understand that this bid is per edited audio 30 minute segment. It is not per work hour or per raw audio 30 minute segment. Each 30 minute segment may be billed as one hour of work whether it takes an hour to complete the work or not."
- All work will be listened to in full for completeness and accuracy.
There also may be places in the audio where the level spikes suddenly or is overly quite. I will want these obvious variations in level adjusted up or down - this should just be a few spikes here and there - not as regular an occurrence.
