This well be one of those books labeled, "Based on a true story." It is the tale of Daniel Boone and Joseph Jackson (1756-1844) describing their lives as captives of the Shawnee Indian tribe. Both men were adopted into the tribe as replacements for deceased Shawnee. While Boone escaped within a year of his capture, Jackson took his role as and adopted and much-loved tribe member with gusto. He lived with the tribe until 1799, and fought with the Shawnee as a "white Indian warrior." The working title of the book is: Daniel Boone and Me: Washin' Out The White.
