We are looking for expert help in creating a number of recipes to be used as one aspect in the treatment of a particular, diabetes-related health condition. As an initial project, we are looking for writers/meal designers with a background in nutrition, healthy cooking, dietetics, or similar wellness-type field to create 10 recipes of roughly 250-350 words each for use in various publications. The freelancer who successfully delivers this project can expect additional, ongoing work in at least the near term.
We will provide the freelancer(s) we select to undertake this project with clear details about the health condition and the types of foods/ingredients we envision being used within the recipes, but you can expect that additional research will be required. Other things to consider include:
_ Recipes will address the health condition in a positive, beneficial, safe, healthy, and tasty way.
_ Our readership is mostly in North American, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Recipes should reflect the basic eating habits of these countries.
_Recipes should be simple enough that even a novice cook can pull them off without an excess of time or cost. Ingredients should be generally available, and should appeal to a wide variety of palates.
_Recipes should nevertheless be appetizing and gastronomically appealing. We are looking for healthy meals that don’t come across as being “health food.”
_ Recipes should be presented in a traditional format, with ingredients and portions listed, and with detailed instructions about how to successfully prepare the meal/dish included.
_ The logic or philosophy of the recipe should also be included in its presentation. For example, you would describe the particular health benefits known to accompany certain ingredients as they relate to the condition we are treating.
_ If you possess the ability to create professional-quality photographs or illustrations in conjunction with the created recipes please mention such in your bid. We will happily discuss the creation of an add-on project to compensate you for this work as well.
_ It should go without saying that a mastery of written English is essential.
_ Perfect familiarity with the overarching culinary customs of the English-speaking cultures of the US/Can/UK/Aus/NZ is also essential.
_ You should be able to create recipes covering the major meals (breakfast, lunch, diner) as well as snacks, deserts, smoothies, etc. In awarding the project we will give you additional direction in terms of the particular meals/dishes for which we wish you to design the recipes.
_ Accreditation or certification in a related field is preferred.
_Writing experience in the vein of this project is also necessary. Please include a few relevant samples of your work with your bid.
We will accept the project in the usual word processing formats, with preference given to MS Word. Please follow a typical, basic recipe presentation format.
This project is a work for hire, with all rights of copy and reproduction being fully transferred to us upon delivery. We do however desire the ability to associate your name and credentials with your work, and will at our discretion include contact information in our publications that refers our readers to where they can learn more about you.
