I have built ATS/recruiting automation (JD intake to candidate ranking to outreach with two-way ATS sync) and a 50+ endpoint REST platform with retries, structured logs and runbooks. Worth naming up front: Workable is hosted SaaS with no plugin runtime to install into. What is genuinely configurable is the SPI (Bearer token, per-subdomain), event subscriptions/webhooks, the integrations surface and role permissions - so this is wiring your dev tools TO Workable, not inside it. Two traps I would design around: 1. Workable tokens are ROLE-SCOPED, and an under-privileged token returns FEWER records rather than a 403. Permissions get validated using the exact role your team will run as, or the setup looks healthy while silently hiding candidates. 2. The SPI is rate-limited, so syncs use cursor paging plus backoff and webhook events instead of full re-pulls - otherwise it passes your load check and throttles in production.
