A native Android application that turns the sales phone into a card terminal, embedding SumUp's Tap to Pay SDK to read contactless cards over NFC. No separate card reader. How it fits. Two applications on one device. The Odoo POS is a Progressive Web App, built separately, and launches this app when the operator selects the card payment method. How the flow works. A PWA cannot receive an Android activity result, so the two apps never exchange the outcome directly. The POS passes a transaction identifier by intent. The app fetches the authoritative amount from the Odoo server over its own authenticated call, runs the payment through the SDK, and posts the result back to the server — which then updates the payment line in the POS. The amount never travels in the intent, so nothing on the device can set the price. What it does. Seven areas of work: Provisioning and terminal identity — one-time device binding with backend service credentials, encrypted device token, terminal status screen, guarded deprovisioning SDK lifecycle and token supply — single initialisation, a non-blocking token provider, proactive background refresh Request validation and amount conversion — caller signature verification, payload fetch, BigDecimal conversion to minor units Payment execution and transaction UI — starting the transaction, driving present-card and PIN screens from the SDK event stream, mapping errors to actionable operator messages Outcome reporting — four terminal outcomes handled distinctly, written to a durable local queue and retried until the server acknowledges Market neutrality — currency, locale and formatting driven by configuration rather than hard-coded Diagnostics — log redaction and batched diagnostic upload Deliverables. A production application, an attestation-compliant release build, unit tests covering the payment path, a technical readme, a provisioning procedure for IT operations, and support through the single-till pilot.

Hello there, Hope you are doing well I’m interested in building your native Android Tap to Pay application with SumUp SDK integration and the secure Odoo PWA → Android app → backend payment flow you described. The architecture is well defined, particularly the decision to treat the Odoo server as the authoritative source for transaction amounts rather than trusting values passed through the Android intent. I can implement this flow with security, reliability and auditability as the priorities. Proposed Implementation 1. Device Provisioning & Terminal Identity Secure one-time device binding Encrypted storage for terminal/device credentials Terminal status and guarded deprovisioning Correct SDK lifecycle management Non-blocking token provider with proactive refresh 2. Secure Request Validation Validate and authenticate the incoming transaction identifier Verify the caller/signature as required Fetch the authoritative transaction amount from the Odoo backend Use BigDecimal for accurate currency conversion to minor units Ensure the amount is never trusted from the intent 3. SumUp Payment Flow Initialize the SumUp Tap to Pay SDK correctly Handle SDK event streams Drive contactless-card and PIN flows Provide clear operator-facing status/error messages Support different currencies/locales through configuration Thanks & Regards Dheeraj K.

Hi, The architecture makes sense, especially keeping the **amount authoritative on Odoo rather than trusting anything passed through the intent**. I’d preserve that boundary and treat the Android app strictly as a secure payment terminal. I’d build this natively in **Kotlin**, with SumUp Tap to Pay/NFC integrated around a single SDK lifecycle. The areas I’d be particularly careful with are **caller signature validation, idempotent outcome reporting, token refresh, and crash/network recovery**. For payment results, I’d persist them locally before reporting to Odoo and retry until acknowledged, so a successful card charge can’t disappear because connectivity drops immediately afterward. The pilot should also include redacted diagnostics that let us trace a transaction without exposing card, token, or credential data. One question: is the **Odoo provisioning/payment API already implemented and documented**, or is the Android developer expected to define that contract as part of this scope? Regards, **Mehboob Katiyar**

Dear Client, I read "Android Payment App Development" carefully and understand you need a POS that keeps the counter moving quickly and never loses a sale. My hands-on experience with Java, Mobile App Development, Android, Odoo, Payment Gateway Integration, Android App Development, API Development aligns directly with what you need. I've built POS systems with barcode scanning, receipt printing, inventory sync, shift/cash management and sales reports — including offline mode so billing never stops. A few quick questions to get us started: 1. Is this for retail, restaurant, or another business type? 2. Which hardware should it work with — receipt printer, barcode scanner, cash drawer? 3. Do you need offline mode with automatic sync when the internet returns? Thanks & Regards, Deepak

Hi, I can build this Android Tap-to-Pay terminal application with a strong focus on payment security, transaction reliability, and clean Odoo integration. My approach is to use native Kotlin + the SumUp Tap to Pay SDK, with the Odoo PWA passing only the transaction ID via Intent. The app will independently fetch the authoritative amount from the authenticated backend, convert it safely to minor units, and execute the payment through the SDK. I will implement: Secure terminal provisioning, device binding and encrypted credentials Caller/request validation and secure amount handling SDK-driven card/PIN transaction flow with clear error handling Durable offline outcome queue with retry/acknowledgement Four distinct transaction outcomes and server-side POS reconciliation Configurable currency/locale handling Redacted diagnostics and batched uploads Unit tests, attestation-compliant release build, IT provisioning guide and technical documentation I will also ensure SDK initialization, token refresh, and lifecycle handling are non-blocking and production-safe. Timeline: 3–4 weeks for the production MVP and pilot readiness. Question: Do you already have the Odoo backend endpoint/API contract and SumUp merchant/developer credentials available? Warm Regards, Manu The price will be given after the final discussion!

You need the Android app to act as a trustworthy payment terminal while treating Odoo—not the launching PWA or device intent—as the authority for amount and transaction state. I’d build it natively in Kotlin using the SumUp Tap to Pay SDK, Coroutines/Flow, Room, WorkManager, Android Keystore, certificate-digest caller verification, and Play Integrity where supported. Provisioning will bind each approved device to a backend terminal record, while short-lived credentials and a non-blocking token provider prevent secrets from being embedded. Each request will fetch the amount from Odoo, convert currency safely with BigDecimal, enforce idempotency, drive the SDK event stream, and record success, decline, cancellation, and indeterminate outcomes separately. A durable outbox will retry signed result posts until acknowledged, without ever storing card data. Logs will redact tokens and payment details, and tests will cover amount conversion, replay protection, lifecycle recovery, and reporting. Which SumUp SDK version, launch market/currency, Odoo API contract, and pilot Android device model are already approved?

Your server-authoritative payment design is the right foundation, especially the rule that the intent carries only a transaction ID and that every SDK outcome is persisted before delivery to Odoo. I’d preserve that boundary exactly and focus the Android app on reliable payment execution and recovery. I’d build this natively in Kotlin with a clear separation between provisioning, SumUp SDK lifecycle, request validation, payment state, and outcome delivery. My two priorities would be clean implementation and integrations: EncryptedSharedPreferences for the device token, caller package + signing-certificate verification, BigDecimal-only amount conversion, single SDK initialization, cached non-blocking AuthTokenProvider logic, and Room + WorkManager for the durable retry queue across restarts/reboots. That directly reduces the risk of duplicate charges or a successful payment being lost before Odoo acknowledges it. I’d also cover the four distinct outcomes exactly as specified, process-death restoration, attestation-aware operator errors, redacted diagnostics, market-neutral configuration, exhaustive payment-path tests, signed release builds, and the IT provisioning/readme handover. A relevant example is Restaurant POS Rescue, where I worked on a POS/payment integration layer around an existing operational system and legacy database constraints.

Hi, I reviewed the attached SOW and understand that the scope is specifically the native Android payment application, not the Odoo POS or backend. We can deliver this for ₹1,20,000 within 13 days. Our approach: • Native Android with Kotlin 1.9+ • SumUp Tap to Pay on Android SDK integration • Device provisioning and terminal identity • Encrypted device-token storage • Secure SDK token lifecycle and background refresh • Intent validation with package + signing certificate verification • Server-side authoritative amount retrieval • BigDecimal minor-unit conversion with proper rounding • Payment execution and SDK event handling • PIN/card-present flows and actionable error mapping • Process-death/state restoration • Durable outcome queue with retry and acknowledgement • Correct handling of done, failed, cancelled and result-unknown/pending states • Market-neutral currency, locale and formatting • Redacted diagnostics and separate diagnostic upload • Unit tests for payment and amount-conversion paths • Attestation-compliant release build • Technical documentation and provisioning guide • Support through the single-till pilot We understand the critical requirement that an uncertain transaction must never be treated as a failure, and that payment outcomes must survive app restarts and device reboots. The acceptance criteria in the SOW will be followed against a physical NFC device and SumUp sandbox.
