Hello, "Main Polling Engine Plus A Separate SQL Server" - you need NPM up clean and stable so your team sees green devices and working alerts from day one. For EE1500 with about 50 nodes to start, I would use two Windows servers: one for the NPM engine and web console, one for SQL Server Standard on SSD storage. SolarWinds writes to the database all the time, so keeping SQL on its own box is what keeps the console fast. This layout leaves room to add an extra polling engine as you grow toward the full estate, with nothing to redo. One thing to settle on day one: the 24-hour green status depends on SNMP and ICMP being open from the poller to each device, so I would check firewall paths before discovery starts.
