Hello. I have more than 20 years experience in IT Security and traffic analysis. This includes the use of honeypots and intrusion detection systems since the late 1990s. My work was referenced in the second edition of Stephen Northcutt's book "Intrusion Detection". I have run networks of honeypots around the world and analysed/compared the results. One of the things I learned from doing that is the "malware free networks" initiative in the US means that many types of attacks are filtered out before they reach US-based hosts, so if you want your data collection to include the widest range of attacks you should not host it on a US network as some of the interesting traffic won't reach the honeypot.
