I already run my own data feeds, execution simulator and paper-trading environment, so the missing piece is a set of fresh, well-defined algorithmic strategies focused solely on equities. I’m open to any blend of trend-following, market-making or statistical-arbitrage logic—what matters is that the rules are explicit enough for me to drop straight into my existing Python back-tester. Here’s what I need from you: • A clear narrative of each strategy’s concept and edge. • Precise entry, exit, position-sizing and risk parameters. • Any indicator formulas or data transformations required. • Clean, well-commented Python (or pseudo-code I can quickly port) that compiles without external editing. • Brief notes on walk-forward or parameter-optimisation suggestions so I can validate results beyond the initial back-test. I’ll run each submission through my engine and paper-trade them for at least two weeks; strategies that match their stated behaviour and stay within drawdown limits will be considered complete. If you’ve previously deployed or researched stock algorithms and can package them in a plug-and-play format, let’s talk. Thank you for the questions. Below is a consolidated clarification to help you assess the project and prepare your proposal. Detailed technical specifications and proprietary requirements will be shared with the selected freelancer under an appropriate confidentiality agreement. 1. Objective and scope I am looking for an experienced quantitative researcher/developer to propose and implement systematic equity strategies for integration into an existing Python backtesting environment. The intended progression is independent backtesting, portfolio evaluation, paper trading and potentially live deployment. Progression depends on satisfactory validation; delivery of a strategy does not automatically qualify it for trading. The immediate scope is strategy research, implementation and reproducible testing. Any substantial production infrastructure or live brokerage integration should be quoted separately. 2. Markets and strategy proposals The initial focus is US-listed equities. This is not a sports-betting, cryptocurrency, forex or options project. I welcome proposals from different strategy families. Please recommend the approach you believe you can substantiate best, explain its economic rationale and identify the conditions in which it should work or fail. Daily-data strategies are the preferred starting point. State the expected holding period and trading frequency. Intraday or market-making proposals must clearly identify their additional data and execution requirements. Please assume long-only for the initial proposal. Any dependence on short selling, leverage or specialised order handling must be disclosed rather than assumed. 3. Data and universe Historical daily price and volume data are available. Additional fundamental or event data may be considered where required and where coverage and licensing permit. The selected freelancer will receive the relevant data specification, sample format, confirmed historical coverage and integration requirements. Python/pandas-compatible inputs are expected; the precise exchange format will be agreed before implementation. Please specify: - Required fields and minimum historical coverage. - Proposed universe and liquidity requirements. - Any external datasets, subscriptions or recurring costs. - How you handle missing data, delisted securities, corporate actions and historical changes in the universe. Exact dataset size and usable date ranges depend on the selected strategy and will be confirmed during technical scoping. Please do not assume that tick data, order-book data or historical bid/ask quotes are available. 4. Strategy interface and performance requirements An existing Python research and backtesting environment is in place. The selected freelancer will receive the relevant interface specification rather than being expected to rebuild the platform. The implementation should be modular, with clearly defined inputs and outputs. Strategy logic should remain separate from brokerage connectivity and portfolio-level controls. The immediate requirement is reliable batch backtesting and repeatable signal generation. There is no high-frequency latency target for this phase. Please state expected runtime, memory requirements and any scalability limitations. 5. Risk management and trading assumptions Existing portfolio-level risk controls must be respected. The freelancer should also define the strategy’s entry, exit, sizing, exposure and failure conditions. Exact capital assumptions, position limits, drawdown thresholds and internal acceptance criteria are confidential and will be provided to the selected freelancer before implementation and testing. Backtests must include realistic transaction costs and execution assumptions, including spreads, slippage and other applicable charges. Higher-cost scenarios should also be evaluated. Order types, fill assumptions and restrictions will be agreed during scoping. Risk requirements must remain fixed during optimization and cannot be relaxed to improve reported results. 6. Validation and optimization I am looking for reproducible evidence rather than an attractive historical equity curve alone. The work should address: - Separation of development and out-of-sample evaluation. - Walk-forward testing where appropriate. - Look-ahead, survivorship and selection bias. - Parameter sensitivity and the risk of overfitting. - Realistic costs, execution delays and liquidity constraints. - Performance across different market conditions. - Suitable benchmark comparisons. - Disclosure of the variants tested, including unsuccessful results. Please explain your proposed validation method and how you prevent repeated optimization from contaminating the test results. Our detailed internal evaluation framework will be shared privately with the selected freelancer. 7. Questrade compatibility The strategy should be designed so its outputs can later be connected to Questrade through an appropriate integration layer, including Questrade MCP where supported. Please keep the strategy implementation independent of the broker and identify any assumptions about supported instruments, order types, market data or approval requirements. Questrade MCP currently requires user approval for trade instructions, so a proposal should not depend on instantaneous, unattended execution through that connection. For this phase, please describe the integration approach and any limitations. Production connectivity and live execution will require a separate agreed scope. 8. Deliverables and reporting Expected deliverables include: - A clear explanation of the strategy and its rationale. - Precise rules, formulas, parameters and data requirements. - Runnable, documented Python code with setup instructions and dependencies. - Sample inputs and outputs, plus relevant implementation tests. - Reproducible backtest results and a trade-level record. - A concise report covering performance, drawdowns, costs, exposure, robustness and limitations. Charts should support the analysis, including equity and drawdown curves and relevant comparisons. A separate dashboard is not required unless agreed. Please identify any third-party code, licensing restrictions or ongoing service dependencies. 9. Budget, milestones and acceptance Within the advertised budget, please recommend a realistic scope. My preference is to assess a small shortlist of concepts and implement one selected strategy thoroughly as the first milestone. Further strategies can be agreed separately. Please distinguish contract deliverables from investment performance. Acceptance criteria will be agreed before work starts, and no guarantee of profitability is expected. The original reference to two weeks of paper trading should be understood as an initial operational check. The full evaluation period will depend on trading frequency and the amount of evidence required. Live deployment remains a separate decision. In your proposal, please include your relevant equity-strategy experience, recommended approach, validation methodology, data requirements, delivery timeline, milestone pricing and key limitations. Non-confidential examples of previous work are welcome.

I would start with a small research shortlist and take one strategy through proper validation rather than deliver several lightly optimized backtests. For the initial concept I recommend a daily long-only cross-sectional momentum framework with liquidity, trend, volatility and turnover controls. It fits the available US equity daily price/volume data and does not depend on unavailable order-book history. The implementation will remain broker-independent: data → features → signals → sizing → target positions/orders, with a clean Python interface for your existing backtester. Validation will include development/OOS separation, walk-forward testing, transaction-cost stress, parameter sensitivity, liquidity constraints, regime analysis, benchmark comparison, survivorship/look-ahead checks and disclosure of unsuccessful variants. Deliverables include documented Python, tests, trade-level results, equity/drawdown analysis, data requirements, limitations and Questrade integration notes.

Hi, This is Elias from Miami. I understand you want one well-researched, long-only US equity strategy implemented for your existing Python environment, with explicit rules, realistic execution assumptions, and reproducible out-of-sample validation rather than an optimized equity curve. I have experience with Python data pipelines, quantitative analysis, backtesting logic, and production-grade data systems. I’d start with a daily, liquidity-filtered trend/momentum strategy because it can be tested using your existing price/volume data without introducing expensive alternative datasets. I’d deliver modular Python/pandas code, documented entry/exit and sizing rules, transaction-cost assumptions, trade-level outputs, tests, and a validation report. Validation would use fixed development/test periods, walk-forward analysis, parameter sensitivity, cost stress tests, and checks for survivorship/look-ahead bias. I have a few questions for clarification: Q1 – What approximate budget range have you allocated for the first strategy milestone? Q2 – Does your historical dataset include delisted equities and adjusted corporate-action data? Q3 – Can you share your backtester’s strategy interface/API after NDA? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I can develop plug-and-play equity strategies designed around explicit, testable rules that can be dropped directly into your existing Python back-tester. I’ll provide the strategy logic, entry/exit rules, position sizing, risk controls, indicator calculations, clean implementation, and validation guidance, with strict attention to look-ahead bias, realistic costs, and out-of-sample robustness. Walk-forward validation is particularly useful here because it separates parameter fitting from unseen test periods and helps expose overfitting. Questione 1: What data frequency and equity universe does your back-tester support—daily, intraday, US equities only, or multiple markets? Questione 2: What position-sizing, transaction-cost, short-selling, and maximum-drawdown constraints should each strategy respect? Regards, Houssame.

Hello!, I am a US-based senior software engineer, and this is the kind of project I like because the hard part is not just coding, it is building a backtesting system you can actually trust. Since you already have data feeds, an execution simulator, and paper trading in place, the main gap is likely a clean research framework that avoids lookahead bias, handles slippage and fills correctly, and gives you results you can rely on. I can help by: 1. Reviewing your current setup and identifying weak points 2. Designing a solid backtesting architecture with clear signal, portfolio, and risk layers 3. Adding walk-forward testing, out-of-sample validation, and useful stats 4. Making the codebase easy to extend for new strategies I pay close attention to the details that often get missed, like data alignment, commissions, execution timing, and realistic order handling. That is usually the difference between a backtest that looks good and one that means something. Relevant work I’ve done: - Python momentum and mean-reversion research engine - Options strategy backtester with walk-forward validation - Trade simulation platform for intraday signal testing - Portfolio analytics dashboard for systematic review Could you please clarify the following questions to help me better understand the project? 1. Which markets and timeframes should I focus on first? 2. Do you already have a strategy interface in mind, or should I design one? 3.

I can package a focused set of equity strategies directly for your existing Python back-tester, with explicit rules rather than research-level descriptions. Each strategy will include its market hypothesis, indicator formulas, data transformations, entry and exit logic, position sizing, risk controls, and assumptions around execution and costs. I’ll provide clean, well-commented Python that is structured for straightforward integration with your feeds and simulator, avoiding unnecessary framework changes. Depending on your preferred coverage, I can develop complementary trend-following, mean-reversion/statistical-arbitrage, or liquidity-aware approaches, while keeping every rule deterministic and testable. I’ll also document parameter boundaries, walk-forward validation, out-of-sample testing, and optimisation safeguards to help distinguish robust behaviour from curve-fitting. The deliverable will be organised so you can run each strategy independently, inspect its stated behaviour, and move successful candidates into your two-week paper-trading process with clear drawdown expectations. The emphasis will be reproducibility, transparent risk management, and plug-and-play implementation within the environment you already operate.

I am interested in developing a robust algorithmic stock trading strategy focused on reliable backtesting and data-driven performance evaluation. I can design the strategy logic, define entry and exit conditions, incorporate technical indicators, and ensure the methodology avoids look-ahead bias and other common backtesting errors. I will build a comprehensive backtesting framework using historical market data, including transaction costs, slippage, position sizing, risk management, and realistic execution assumptions. The strategy will be evaluated using metrics such as total return, CAGR, Sharpe ratio, maximum drawdown, win rate, and risk-adjusted performance across different market conditions. The final deliverable will include clean, well-documented code, backtesting results, performance analysis, and visualizations of trades and equity curves. I can also perform parameter testing and out-of-sample validation to help assess whether the strategy is robust rather than simply optimized for historical data.

Hi, I read your project description regarding creating explicit equity strategies that plug directly into your existing Python back-tester and paper-trading workflow. I understand you’re looking for a reliable professional to deliver well-defined strategy logic, implementation-ready Python, and validation guidance. I have successfully completed similar projects involving quantitative Python, data transformations, systematic trading rules, and risk-controlled backtesting, so I can package each strategy clearly for your engine. My approach will be to first map the available feed fields and simulator assumptions, followed by implementing trend-following, market-making, or statistical-arbitrage concepts with precise entries, exits, sizing, and drawdown controls, and finally reviewing behavior and walk-forward or optimization recommendations. I’ll keep the code clean, self-contained, and well-commented so it compiles without external editing. I prioritize explicit assumptions and reproducible results, especially since you’ll paper-trade each submission for at least two weeks. I’d be glad to discuss the strategy format and validation expectations when you’re ready to chat. Regards, - Role: You are an expert freelance copywriter and senior Quantitative Python Developer.

Hi, I went through the requirements and this is a good fit for my Python and algorithmic trading experience. Since you already have the data feeds, simulator and paper-trading environment, I can focus on the part that matters here: well-defined equity strategies with rules that are precise enough to plug directly into your existing backtester. For each strategy, I can provide the underlying idea, entry/exit conditions, position sizing, risk rules, indicators and required data transformations, along with clean Python implementation and comments explaining the logic. I can also structure the strategies so the parameters are easy to optimize and suggest a sensible walk-forward testing approach to help separate a robust signal from something that only looks good on historical data. I’ve worked with Python, trading automation, API-driven systems and data processing, and I’m comfortable turning trading rules into reproducible code rather than leaving them as vague concepts. Happy to review your backtester’s expected strategy interface and build around it. Thanks!

==== Hi - Truong here ==== "PLUG-AND-PLAY EQUITY BACKTESTING STRATEGIES" - you need explicit trading rules and clean Python that can drop directly into your existing back-tester. I’d build each strategy as a self-contained specification: market assumptions, signals, entry and exit rules, position sizing, risk limits, indicator formulas, and implementation code. I’d keep parameters exposed rather than hidden so you can run walk-forward tests and separate genuine behaviour from overfitting. Since your simulator and paper-trading environment already exist, I’d focus the work on strategy logic and making the output match your engine’s expected inputs and behaviour. What data fields and bar frequency does your existing back-tester provide to a strategy? Looking forward to work with you.

Hello!⚡ Thank you for the precise brief — well-defined equity strategies with explicit rules that drop straight into your back-tester is exactly the quant work I enjoy. I recently packaged equities strategies as clean, standalone Python — explicit rules, point-in-time signals, and walk-forward notes — for a client running his own engine. What I will deliver: 1. 2–3 low-correlation strategies — say a momentum/trend, a mean-reversion pair, and a volatility-filtered breakout — so they diversify rather than overlap. 2. Explicit entry, exit, and risk rules with volatility-scaled sizing (vol target or ATR), a hard stop, and a max-drawdown guard. 3. Clean, commented Python that compiles standalone and drops into your back-tester, with every indicator formula spelled out. 4. Every signal built point-in-time to avoid lookahead and survivorship bias — the usual reason a backtest falls apart in paper trading. 5. Walk-forward and in/out-of-sample notes with purged CV, so you can spot overfitting before you trust it. 6. A narrative of each strategy's concept and edge, with honest notes on regime dependence and expected drawdown. Thanks. Hassan

Hi. This is a good fit because algorithmic stock strategies is usually less about simple indicator implementation and more about robust statistical edge identification so existing backtesting modules continue working. I have experience with Python, algorithm design, software architecture, statistics, statistical analysis, data science, data analysis, and backtesting for various equity market frameworks. The main technical issue in quantitative strategy development is that overfitting historical data to specific noise patterns can occur, which can cause significant performance degradation when the model encounters live market conditions or out-of-sample data. I would solve this by defining explicit entry and exit logic, calculating position sizing based on volatility-adjusted risk parameters, and structuring the Python code with modular indicator formulas to ensure seamless integration into your simulator, followed by rigorous validation of the walk-forward results to confirm the strategy remains stable. I can also configure parameter-optimization constraints and risk-management thresholds so the system works fully after completion and maintains drawdown limits within your specified paper-trading environment for consistent results. The goal is to make the system run exactly like a professional institutional trading desk and ensure everything is tested and stable. And I can help you so on. Thanks.

Hi, The project’s focus on algorithmic stock strategy backtesting suggests a need for robust handling of historical market data and accurate simulation of trading logic. The main technical risk is ensuring data consistency and scalability while maintaining precise execution logic for reliable backtest results. I have led architecture and development of Dent-Cloud, a scalable energy analytics platform managing high-frequency time-series data and AI forecasting, which shares similarities with handling large volumes of historical data and predictive modeling required here. Additionally, my work on DocIntel AI involved designing automated ingestion pipelines and retrieval systems, relevant for integrating diverse data sources and maintaining data integrity. I typically design systems with clear separation between data ingestion, processing, and evaluation layers to facilitate testing and scaling independently. I’d validate data quality and simulation accuracy early to avoid cascading errors in strategy evaluation. For reliability, I emphasize monitoring, retries, and evaluation datasets to ensure stable and reproducible backtesting outcomes, which reduces risk in production deployments. I can start by outlining the data ingestion architecture and the backtesting evaluation pipeline to align on key requirements. Thanks, Clifton
