I am running a university lean six sigma project applying a DMAIC approach.
Business Case: Freight & Logistics industry - Order to Cash process. Cash Application team is responsible for posting accurately and timely incoming payments. If an incoming payment does not match an open invoice or cannot be identified will be left unallocated (unapplied) on customer's account.
Problem Statement: for the financial year 2018 the monthly average unapplied cash was $2 million against a target of $1.2 million.
DMAIC approach - Measure phase. I have uploaded an excel file containing the unallocated cash for financial year 2018 aged by 0-30 days, 30-60 days, 90-120 days etc - Total unallocated Cash.
My request are to:
1- Run a pareto chart on my data and what's the output (what the data are telling me - I should have clusters on my data).
2- Figure out what cluster I have and what stats test should I run to get a good description of the data. For example, I know that there are few customers that have higher unallocated cash (unapplied) than the average. So maybe I should run 2 tests, 1 for average customers (unallocated monthly cash 2 million) and one for non average (unallocated monthly cash over 2.5 million or less than 1.5 million).
3- Run a boxplot graph and what it tells me.
4- Testing the normality distribution/assumption of my data.
5- Run MiniTab SixPack Process Capability Analysis and what it tells me.
