ERP Setup, Chart of Accounts & Accounting Process Implementation Project Type: Accounting / ERP Implementation / Finance Process Setup Experience Level: Intermediate to Expert Project Overview We are looking for an experienced **finance and accounting professional with ERP implementation experience** to help us establish a structured accounting environment for our business. The objective is not just to configure the ERP, but to build a **clean and scalable finance and accounting framework** covering the Chart of Accounts, accounting processes, workflows, controls and basic finance policies. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles and practical experience setting up accounting systems for startups, SMEs or growing businesses. Scope of Work 1. ERP Environment Setup * Review business activities and accounting requirements * Configure the basic ERP/accounting environment * Set up company, fiscal year, accounting periods and relevant accounting parameters * Configure customers, vendors, products/services and other master data * Define appropriate accounting workflows and transaction structures 2. Chart of Accounts * Design a comprehensive and logical **Chart of Accounts** * Define account groups and classifications * Establish appropriate revenue, cost, expense, asset, liability and equity accounts * Ensure the structure supports management reporting and financial statements * Build the COA with future scalability in mind 3. Accounting Processes Develop and configure basic accounting processes covering: * Sales and Accounts Receivable * Purchases and Accounts Payable * Expense accounting * Bank and cash management * Customer and vendor management * Fixed assets * Payroll accounting interface * Journal entries * Month-end closing * Bank reconciliation * Inter-company transactions, if applicable * Financial reporting 4. Accounting Policies & SOPs Prepare basic accounting policies/process documentation covering areas such as: * Revenue recognition * Expense recognition * Accounts receivable and collections * Accounts payable * Payment approval process * Bank reconciliation * Journal entry controls * Fixed asset accounting * Month-end closing * Financial reporting * Documentation and record retention * Delegation of authority and approval controls 5. Controls & Reporting * Establish basic maker-checker and approval controls * Define roles and responsibilities within finance * Recommend appropriate segregation of duties * Set up standard financial reports * Define key month-end and reconciliation controls * Recommend a practical monthly closing checklist ### Deliverables The successful freelancer will be expected to provide: 1. Recommendations for improving the overall finance setup Ideal Candidate * Qualified accountant / finance professional preferred * Strong accounting and bookkeeping knowledge * Hands-on ERP implementation experience * Experience designing Chart of Accounts * Experience setting up finance processes for startups/SMEs * Strong understanding of financial controls * Ability to translate accounting requirements into practical ERP workflows * Good documentation and process-writing skills Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, Odoo, NetSuite, SAP, TallyPrime or similar ERP/accounting systems is preferred.
