Communication is not a panacea. Explaining yourself and understanding others will not solve all problems; in fact sometimes more communication leads to more problems. Think of an occasion (real or hypothetical) where more interaction would make matters worse. Imagine that the other person (or people) involved in this situation is (are) urging you to keep the channels of communication open. You know that if you do communicate more the situation will deteriorate, yet you don’t want to appear uncooperative. What should you do?
