Hi! I recently began an online gaming league called Star Wars Gaming League. I have a website recently set up using a template from [url removed, login to view] (copper fusion). I want to replicate the database functions of a larger gaming league www.caleague.com. They use an nfl style format where there is a preseason, a regular season, playoffs, culminating in an eventual champion. If you go to their site, you see they have a pull down for DIVSIONS. These are the different games they support. I will need this function as the number of Star Wars games we support will grow over time. The section I want to completely duplicate and have available to my website is the DIVISION called Battlefield 1942 OPEN.
They have the site set up so you must sign in to see the JOIN/LEAVE a team function. The other links you can access without signing in. So, I want to have that exact functionality (or something very close to it) that is integrated into my website. I use Frontpage 2002 to edit my site, and need to be able to continue to use that program, although I believe once the database is set up, there should be nothing I would need to adjust in my editor.
Clearly this is the part I do not know. I have heard their database functionality is custom built, but there are some easily found game league scripts available. One is [url removed, login to view], another is Lurkem. These game scripts primarily focus on LADDERS, not leagues. Again, I need the LEAGUE format that [url removed, login to view] uses, not a ladder system. It needs to be integrated into my site somehow ([url removed, login to view]), so visitors can access these function without having to go to a third party source like (myleague.com-another game ladder service).
I'm sorry I probably said the same thing three times, but I'm not sure you'll understand what [url removed, login to view] is doing functionally. Team captains sign a team up, and then players are able to sign onto that team once they have been given the password to do so. The players edit their profile, and an important field is the GUID identifier that helps prevent "ringers" or players playing for multiple teams. The database also has a results page, a schedule page, etc, as you can see from their site. Some of those functions do look like they're pulled from established game background script managers.
I'm hoping you will know what I'm talking about, but I obviously can provide additional details.
My webhost has Mysql and php/nuke intalled if that turns out to be required for this project
I have put a date of September 21st at the due date, but the earlier the better as we're preparing for the launch of the primary game we are doing to support coming out-which is Star Wars Battlefront.
thanks for you time, I Look forward to hearing from you if you are able to do this, and if so, in what timeframe and for how much?
Cool project. I say this because not only did I run something similar a very long time ago, but also because my company is currently working on a contract along the same lines - but rather ladder. I have enormous exper Plus
