I’m developing a new line of timber-based furniture and need a wood-engineering specialist to turn my concepts into production-ready assets. Your role is three-fold: refine the design and drafting, run a full structural analysis to prove each piece will hold up under real-world loading, and guide material selection and testing so I choose the right species, grades, and finishes for strength, durability, and appearance. You’ll start from my rough sketches and dimensions, translate them into detailed CAD drawings, then validate every joint, dowel, and fastener through structural calculations or FEA—whichever is most efficient for wood structures. Once the numbers work, I’ll look to you for a concise material report that lists recommended timber species, mechanical properties, required lab tests (if any), and finishing systems compatible with indoor use. Deliverables • Production-ready CAD files (DWG/DXF plus PDFs for shop use) • Structural analysis report with assumptions, load cases, and safety factors spelled out • Material specification and testing sheet, including sourcing notes and compliance with relevant standards • Brief assembly/production notes so a fabricator can move straight to prototyping Please highlight any wood-specific tools you normally rely on—whether it’s Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or specialized timber analysis add-ins—so I can line up file compatibility. If you’ve taken furniture from idea to factory floor before, even better; share a quick example when you reply.
