I have a four-foot water wheel that averages well under 50 RPM. I need its slow, steady torque converted into roughly 1,100 RPM so it can drive a small generator. A compact, reliable spur-gear train built in steel is the preferred solution; bevel or worm arrangements are not required. The core of the job is a complete mechanical design: gear ratio selection, tooth counts, shaft spacing, bearing choices, housing concept and clear assembly instructions. Please base calculations on realistic efficiencies and include safety factors suited to continuous outdoor use. Deliverables • 2D drawings and a 3D model (any common CAD format) showing gear profiles, shafts, keys, bearings and housing • Gear and material specs with strength and service-life calculations • Exploded view or step-by-step assembly guide • Bill of materials with sourcing notes for off-the-shelf components Acceptance criteria: the design achieves at least a 22:1 speed increase (50 RPM input → 1,100 RPM output) without exceeding recommended limits for steel spur gears, fits within a footprint that can mount beside the wheel, and can be fabricated with conventional machining methods.
