I have some problem with Real Alternative - it is a DirectShow filter package which read/decode RealMedia and RealAudio files. Only people with strong background in DirectShow can do this project. The problem is, with RA installed, Windows Media Player sometimes fail to decode certain rm and ra files, while Media Player Classic (installed with RA) can. I believe it is a file path issue. The MPC is installed in the same directory as RA, and RA includes a lot of external codecs in DLL form. My guess is when WMP load RA, it wasn't able to load some codecs because the current directory is different. However, that's just my guess. I haven't got time to research into this. This is the tricky part - you must decode the video to memory in RGB(or YUV) and display the image using Windows GDI, and you must decode the audio to PCM and send the audio out to the speakers using waveOutWrite.
