By accident I found that alert() box causes the entire page to go dim and pause until alert box is closed. I'm looking for way to do the same with js functions instead of alert box. We need a swf which can start broadcasting live video from a webcam. Initial functionalities will be to have two buttons: "start stream", "end stream". Once the streaming starts the swf should be able to share the id,streamName, or whatever that would help us reconnect to that stream later on. This "id" could be shared maybe by the ExternalInterface class using javascript, or another method would be fine too. This project will use a flash media server. We will provide the FMS. The code needs to be in "Action Script 3". REQUIREMENT: We will need the FLVs once the project is over. There will be other small follow-up projects to extend the functionality.

Now the problem is: There are 2 functions exported to javascript using ("test",null,test); but when I try to call swf from javascript I get an error saying(in all browsers): "test is not a function". We have developed a small Flash Mini-Host for OSX which is basically working. It loads Flash Player NPAPI plugin, then loads a Flash SWF File and displays the movie. Everything fine so far. Now we are trying to add the Flash ExternalInterface Function Calls. - We can call from Flash to C, but we simply cannot manage to get the other way round working.
