Hello I have two servers - Server1 is where my websites are. Server2 is a backup server. I would like you to configure server1 so it does nightly backups (using rsync) to server2. There should also be one monthly backup, which is obviously done once per month. This will allow me to get a file from the monthly backup if it has already been overwritten by one of the nightly backups. Thanks.

I need someone who can install rsync on my hosting account, write a simple piece of code to run a cron job daily (or as often as required) and thus establish a mirror from my site to another site. Details will be PMed to the chosen person. The work is pretty simple and will probably take just 30 minutes of your time if you know what you are doing, so the budget is minimum. Please ONLY show me examples of mirrors you had set already so I see you are capable of this kind of job right away. Thanks.

I have over 100 hosting accounts under my reseller package that I would like to automatically backup a few times every day at my bqinternet server account. I hear that rsync would be best. The reseller account I have mainly utilizes freebsd, centos or something like that. It would be a plus if you knew how to do this with windows servers too, as a few accounts are on windows servers as well. ## Deliverables 1) Signup, contact, search, login and other forms might send info to the client. Never use anything other than the email address we provide you with and a fake name like 'Joe Test' to test the system. No contact should ever be made with our client. Can be Web Based or use ssh and ftp etc. Or if you prefer to use ssh and RSYNC we will need to get instruction to get RSYNC working securely and only allow user in their own directory but still need easy windows program for user machine. Similar to Carbonite. Want it to be very easy to use and installable by customer. The file selection will be like most FTP programs that each drive/folder/file will have check box select...

The ssh authentication should be done trough ssh key (authorized key on the server). The Linux server is allready working. So I'm just looking for the client software for the Windows PC. The program should have a GUI. It should be possible to choose which folders and files to backup (something like in nt-backup). I am looking for an experienced Pyhton developer to write a GUI for the rsync file transfer program according to my specifications. The application must work on both Windows(Vista, XP, Server 2003 and Server 2008) and Linux(RPM and DEB based distros). The application must support automatic backup scheduling, manual backups, backup of individual files/folders, easy restore, logging, and be designed from the ground up with security in mind. The GUI should resemble an FTP program and be as lightweight as possible. It would also be nice to allow for email reporting if a backup has not been performed in x amount of time. For Windows, an NSIS installer would be ideal, and for Linux, RPM and DEB files should be available. I wish to retain all copyrights and source code to the...
I am trying to copy a 5G file? over the internet between two Windows 2003 servers using copssh and cwrsync. The rsync is running from the windows command line interpreter. The problem is that the internet connection goes down occasionally during the process and kills the rsync. I would like to have a shell loop that will restart the rsync. I already have the ability to for rsync append to the file.
I have a script that I wrote and I need it extended, I need the script to compare a directory list to a user variable if the directory does not exist then it needs to be created. Your job is to fix up this script, I got the script to compare usernames by the number of letters and thats wrong. so i need a spot to enter the mount points as well and to get the script to compare and care directories. my budget is $30 #!/bin/bash users=( ysapir david rpril zrobinson ) emailadd= hostname=`hostname` directory=`date +%Y-%m-%d` echo ${users[@]} echo $directory foonum=${#use...
Create a daily backup script for CentOS system that can be run from cron daily. ## Deliverables The backup system should use the hard drive snapshot feature of CentOS to avoid data inconsistency. I would prefer to use some backup method other than rsync. It seems to start out working well, but begins loading down the server night after night. I've never been able to get a simple, reliable hard drive to hard drive backup implemented.? Hope your way works better than mine.

I am looking to have remote backup software developed based on the existing open source rsync and ssh software. As part of the project, I would like a graphical installer. The installer should allow for installation and uninstallation. The installer can be built with the Nullsoft install system (preferred method). The program should install on the users computer or server running Windows XP or Windows 2003. The program should be based on SSH and RSYNC and allow for the generation of SSH keys to be shared with a remote server where files will be backed up to. I have a server in our office running on Windows server 2003, the data of which I want to rsync (remote Synchronize) with a remoter server in US or India. This backup or synchronization or mirror image of Hard disk has to happen on daily basis automatically or via scheduling. We are inviting bids which can setup the above mention requirements and advise us infrastructure(Bandwidth, Remote Server etc...) both in India and/or US to do the needful. We prefer bids from Delhi-NCR India as this project might – require the bidder to visit our office to setup the above mentioned requirements.

I have a Bash script that runs rsync to mirror files to other webservers. The script runs over ssh with public key authentification. This script is finished. Now I need a PHP Script that runs this bash script. So far the PHP Code goes like this: <?php system("/home/user/", $retval); ?> The problem is, that the user www-data can't run the script because it has no access to the keys in .ssh. To run the replication script you have to logged in as "rsync-user". Please tell me how to enable the replication by just typing in the correct url to the php script on any webbrowser.

I have a remote Debian Linux VPS web server that I have configured to rsync its data with cron to a remote backup server. I now need help to take a local rsync copy of the live server data periodically. 1) I need to automatically keep a folder on my local Windows XP machine in sync with the data on the live Debian Linux server so I can take regular local DVD backups and 2) I would like the option to also automatically rsync a folder on my local XP machine to the remote backup server so I have offsite local backups. I expect that using cygwin and a batch file are the way to go but I am struggling so need help from someone who has already implemented this successfully. Thanks, Matthew

We currently run a backup service that uses a cron-job scheduled rsync-based script to synchronise files between several small file servers and a backup server. However, the limited broadband bandwidth of the file servers means that jobs often get stuck on large files and never get around to backing up the small files. The current backup log is also very hard to use and does not detail the number of files that remain to be backed up and how out of date each file has become. We require a new linux backup script (or other) that will backup files in a better order to ensure the maximum number of files are backed up given the constraints. We also require a better log so that we know exactly how out-of-date? the backups of each of? the clients are. ## Deliverables We require modi...

We require a self contained windows service which will allow users to graphically (treeView) select files or entire folders (recursivly) to be rsync'ed via ssh to a remote server.
I need the help of an experienced systems administrator. This job is composed of two components, I need two hosting accounts backed up, one via FTP and the other Rsync. This job should be quick and easy and (hopefully) inexpensive as well. I've got one server where I need you to set me up with automated backups to an FTP server (I'll provide FTP creds for both source and destination servers). The other one, I'll provide either FTP creds, or SSH info so you can setup Rsync. Must be available on some sort of messenger service to communicate while you work. If the right bid comes in I'll select you immediately.

I am looking to convert a small program that was written in Borland C++ to VB. I am looking to extend it to add functions, and would consider using the winning bidder in the future.

We have one upload-server (client uploads file via FTP). As soon as a new file is on this server, it needs to be replicated to seven other servers. The file size is typically around 5-10MB and and the volume to replicate is around 200MB/day. For this purpose we plan to use rsync. We need now help for this two tasks: - Are there any alternative to rsync? Is rsync the best solution? - We want to monitore rsync and want to get a message by email as soon something is not running smoothly. Thanks for your help. Best regards Martin
