A serendipitous introduction to the world of journalism shortly after leaving the purported safety of a flourishing legal career almost immediately confirmed my gut instinct to redirect my life and career and, since my first day as an intern at a small but powerful media company four years ago, I have challenged myself and built a solid career as fully-fledged multimedia journalist. I now have meticulous experience in creating written, audio and video content for distribution across various platforms. The privilege of receiving personal guidance and mentoring from veteran leaders in the field as well as the opportunity to forge my own ideas and content - a combination of skills mastery afforded to me by virtue of working within a small organisation which encouraged and valued my innate drive to become the best journalist I could be - armed me with substantial exposure to every fundamental aspect of journalism and the necessary skills required in audio, video and written reporting. I am now proficient at every step of content creation and curation, from birth to publication, including: - Identification of important and relevant news - Editorial oversight of content development process - Broadcasting - Audio recording - Audio cleaning and editing - Video production of interviews - Video production of news headlines - Wordpress and SEO writing - Thumbnail design - Website banner and featured image design - Selection of interviewees - Interview preparation and post-production for video, written and audio distribution - Great command of software including Canva, Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Mailchimp I remain a willing and eager student in this ever-changing and dynamic field which should be perceived and approached as a lifelong learning experience. moins
