Hello,

This project is to redesign an existing product (details attached) to make it compatible for injection molding. The existing product was designed for 3D printing and the design is not compatible for injection molding manufacturing.

In scope: basic design and curvatures. Final design must be an injection moldable design.

Out of scope: the honey comb design can be removed.

    Hello, the ejection can be manual or automatic. It does not have to be in one piece as long as it is very structurally strong enough to hold 40 lbs. through the cylinder.

    Does it have to be done in one piece? i was thinking about splitting it. Parting the cylinder and support from the base and molding them separately.

    Although, I am a student. According to what I know, if you try to make the whole product at once by injection moulding, it won't have as much strength as it would if 3D printed. Or else you may produce it in various parts to be assembled later on. Thanks.

    Also, to clarify, if the proposal is more than one part, the product will need to be able to hold 30 lbs. multi-directionally. The base will be strapped to a tree or tree branch and a smaller pole will be inserted in the cylinder so the product needs to be durable and strong.

    Thank you all for the feedback. I'm open to all ideas, design changes, and manufacturing processes. Ideally, I want as few parts as possible but understand there may be manufacturing limits. I'm not familiar with "molds with servos and pneumatic system". dXav - how does this work. Including molding tooling costs I do not want the cost of the product to exceed $7 per unit.

    Hi, I need to know the manufacturing limitations that you have: If you have CNC machines, EDM machines, and regarding mold design: It is very difficult (if not impossible) to make the base be ejected, so if you are thinking In making 2 different pieces in the same mold (body and base that are going to be assembled) I need to know because you could get the mold of a single pieces applying pneumatic systems.

    On the other hand the honeycomb can be preserved.

      I think without changes, dXav is right. This part is impossible to make as injection-molded part.
