Résumé de concours
I have recently written a very short "Dr. Seuss" style children's book that will act as promotion for a music video I am releasing soon. It tells the story of my life through character transformation and uses ice cream as a prominent metaphor. I would need someone to illustrate around 10-12 very simple, fun and cartoonish illustrations to go along with the story. You would need to send them to me in a format I could then upload as an image (I'm making this on [login to view URL]). The characters in my story are me (in several different stages of my life), my friends, and a boy. I would like for the illustrations to resemble me at each of the stages in the photos I have attached. The boy and my friends do not have to resemble anything, in face you do not have to draw their faces as a part of the illustration.
The story takes you from my childhood to now and is all about the pursuit of my dream to be a singer and dancer. The first scene will be me as a little girl with a big smile and possibly dancing or singing. The second scene will be of me (still the same age) enjoying ice cream. The third will be me a little older, longing to pursue my dreams of being a star. The fourth will be me moving to LA (I'd like to incorporate bright lights & me looking much smaller than the big city). The fifth will be me getting discouraged by all of the crazy people in LA. The sixth will be me moving to another big city (this time performing every night with large crowds screaming my name). The seventh will be me falling in love, running and skipping about with my love, enjoying ice cream. The eighth will be me getting my heart broken by him and having to go back home to where the story started (this can be just me and no other character). The ninth will be me still very sad, trying to dance and sing but not being able to. The tenth will be me moving again, to a town where the sun shines bright, and the people are very friendly, but somehow I am still unhappy. I am trying to enjoy ice cream but sadness keeps creeping in. The eleventh is when I realize I don't need ice cream, or a boy to make me happy, that I only need myself (I write about a lightbulb going off in my head). Then finally the last scene is of me getting ready to dance and sing again, as I have finally realized the only way out of the struggle is by opening my heart and making art. I obviously want the illustrator to read through the book and draw what inspires them- it doesn't have to be exactly like my description. There are details in some of the words that you may want to incorporate, and I also want ice cream to somehow be symbolized throughout each illustration.
The video that this will be promoting is in somewhat of a 50s pinup style theme so I attached a few photos of that for reference. I would love it if the words could be handwritten on the illustration! I will credit you as the illustrator on the book & would need them by June 17th! Thank you!!
