The winner of our "Win a Makerbot Replicator 2" contest is... LUIS PORTAS of PORTUGAL!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations, you've won our Makerbot 2 3D Printer!
After some extensive office debate, we just couldnt go past Luis' simple, innovative and Lego-inspired design. A home is a basic human need, and Luis's design helps address that in an economical and scalable way, requiring nothing other than a Makerbot and PLA.
Some honourable mentions include water filters by Nimaa1369, Carlos Bessa and Alexander Marler, a solar still by Tauphi, a mine detonator and customisable prosthetic leg by Inov8ive, Braille card by KUMUD and a tamper-resistant vote card by mathematicus
Thanks to everyone who took part, and we hope to see you all entering in our next 3D design competition!- il y a 10 ans

In my opinion I believe it was because your idea relied on too many external parts that could not be 3d printed. Also if you use PLA as the body then it could not stand the heat and would melt instantly. It was a good design but not for this competition.

Of course, the way I see it when you fill the interior with foam you can put your leg(remainder) in the foam while its soft to create an impression and a tight fit. It will still need some old fabric like a beanie or sock to keep the leg comfortable and make sure the fit is really tight. This is how most modern prosthetic legs work but simply due to the complicated fitting procedure and materials cost way too much.
There are services which take donated prosthesis to developing parts of the world but i believe these would do more harm then good. Imagine walking around on one leg that is shorter than the other because it was made for someone else and then developing back problems from a ill fitted prosthesis.- il y a 10 ans

Please kindly check #145 is an adjustable (fold) Light Table. I do know nothing about electronics tbh, but I just think if it's possible to create one these centuries. I want to create the solar-source power first, but I'm afraid I would imagine the things too much. I designed it purposely for drawing stuff and an equipment for education in unstable places. In my country, there're still so many places that doesn't have proper equipments for education, even they still going to a school that might be collapsed anytime. So I just think if it would be better to use a table that not really heavy to carry but fuctionable in a place that even doesn't have a classroom. Any feedbacks would be much appreciated, thank you very much.

I loved the "social good" theme and had fun firing up Solidworks once again ( #136 )! Thanks for holding the contest, Freelancer, and best of luck to all the talented designers here! I'm sure the Makerbot will find its way into deserving hands.

Agreed, the "social good" theme made me feel like a designer with a heart as opposed to one that only knows how to click the render button. May the best design win!!! (I also really like yours mathematicus, never would have thought of that)

In the Philippines there are still areas that are not yet reached by commercial electricity providers. These areas only source of electricity is thru electric generators and are only available every night for few hours.
Education is the only wealth that a person can achieve and can never be taken away, it is also the key o unlocking that persons better future. But how can a person have a good future when as a student he or she is deprived of time to study due to unavailability of proper lighting to read and write at night?
I designed this phone stand in the purpose of helping those struggling students from remote areas during their studies at night so that even if the lights are not available anymore they can still study using the light emitted from the TORCH feature by most of the cell phones that are available today.- il y a 10 ans

Question: the contest brief says "*IMPORTANT* THE FILE TYPES NEED TO BE .STL OR .OBJ," but then it says "You'll need to provide your design in AI and EPS formats," in the filetype requirement section. Which is it or is it both, and why would you need a .ai or .eps file if you have both an image file and a CAD file?

hmm the gripper can be adjusted (i guess if the filament is flexible).. i also have a version that has screws in it if the filament is not flexible enough but i cant upload it yet coz I'm still not back to our place..
ahahah.. so you have noticed the shopped logo.. i shopped it because when i rendered it the logo is not that visible so that's the solution i came up with.. hehehe- il y a 10 ans
