Our company is seeking enclosure design concepts for a consumer product currently under development. The enclosure should be simple, clean, have minimal volume, and look awesome. Materials under consideration are generally metallic, with a brushed appearance.

The board stack that must fit in the enclosure is coin-shaped and consists of the following:
1) One circular component with dimension 16 mm (diameter) x 3.2 mm (height)
2) One pushbutton on, in, or comprising the front face of the enclosure
The front face of the enclosure will need a visible status indicator, which could be an LED, electroluminescent paint/wire, or similar. For example, a ring around the pushbutton would meet our needs, but we're open to better ideas as well.

The contest deliverable is simply a 3D image of a great housing design, but we would also like to see a portfolio illustrating that you or your team can provide all three of the items below.

If we really like the winning concept, we will provide an additional $350 in funding for the next phase of the project, which has the following deliverables*:
1) Two 3D concept drawings in the form of a pencil/pen sketch.
2) One 3D model of housing and board stack contents (.skp, .3ds, .ids, .igs, or .dwg)
3) One dimensioned drawing of exploded housing & contents
*Please note that funding the next phase is solely at our discretion and contest winner may or may not be selected for further work.

UPDATE - We finalized our logo design and have attached an image of it. Incorporating the logo is not a requirement unless it significantly improves or enhances the aesthetics of the design.

The entries are really looking good. I think we'd like to see more that size the aspect ratio as correctly as possible - that is the enclosure must be able to hold a component that is 3.2mm high and 16mm in diameter. Similarly I think we are looking for the LEDs/button/enclosure to not necessarily convey anything about what the button can do (so no power symbols or lettering). Being able to see the led/light with the button depressed by a finger is a nice bonus if possible (but not a requirement)

I take form follows function and function follows form approach. I need to know the function and function of the product. than only i shall be able to do the justice with the design. I have three to four different ideas however none of them can be finalized till I decide on the final function i.e. if the two ends are flexible the form and function will be different if they are hard than also the function of the closer will be different. because I have to design a closer which opens too.
