Requirements:
Two complementary logo designs (suitable for web, print, social media - facebook/twitter etc.) for a new company that will specialise in installing renewable technologies (solar panels, biomass boilers, solar thermal etc.) for domestic homes and small to medium businesses in the Midlands, UK. The company will have two websites: “Microgen for Home” (www.microgenforhome.co.uk) and "Microgen for Business" (www.microgenforbusiness.co.uk).

It would be good if the logo design could allow for continuity between both sites (i.e. similar font, style/design/icon etc., just different text (i.e. home/business).

The logo needs to able to be used in social media (either in full, or with an icon/symbol that can more effectively be scaled down to Facebook/Twitter size).

Sum up what you do:

The company’s focus will be on installing renewable technologies for domestic homes and small to medium businesses. The technologies will include:

Solar PV (Electricity)
Solar thermal (Heating)
Biomass boiler (Heating)
Air/ground source heat pumps (Heating)

Microgeneration is the small-scale generation of heat and electric power by individuals, small businesses and communities to meet their own needs, and the UK government is currently financially incentivizing homes and businesses through schemes such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed-in-Tariffs (FITs) to install cleaner, greener, renewable technologies on a micro level.

Ours will be a small, personable family-run company, and we are passionate about making the sometimes intimidating world of renewable technology planning, funding and installation process clear and accessible for the everyday family home and small business so that we can all enjoy a greener future together.

Appropriate keywords and descriptive words or phrases:

Professional but warm and personable - not overly corporate.
Down to earth, passionate about environmental issues.
Transparent (we don’t have sales people, just qualified engineers who will provide honest advice on the best and most cost effective technologies and solutions for your home or business).
Knowledgable/experienced.

Who is the target audience or intended market?:

Middle class to upper middle class people living in either the city or countryside with a bit of cash to spare for the initial installation and equipment costs (which the government will pay back over time) who are concerned with environmental issues (being green) and/or energy security for the UK (i.e. not being so reliant on foreign gas/oil/electricity etc.)

Are you unique or one of many?:

We will be one of the first in our region (Midlands, UK) to provide this comprehensive service. We have some competitors, but not many as the funding schemes set up by the government are a very new initiative, so it is a market that is likely to grow rapidly over the next few years.
