Résumé du concours
**UPDATE** If you are working on this project, please send me a message or let me know somehow (public clarification board?). That way I can get a sense of how many people are working on this contest and how long to keep the contest open.
**UPDATE #2*** Please make sure any images you use in the design are your OWN -- we don't want to infringe on anyone's copyright.
Quick overview of the project:
---------------------------------------------
My product is called Trail. The website is www.mytrailapp.com. We are looking to re-design our Android app, and we want you to make the mockups for the new design. The current app is not yet available on Google Play, but you can download the Android APK from: www.mytrailapp.com/Trail.apk.
You can use the account: username = "freelance" / password = "freelance" if you want to download and test the app / website
Quick overview of Trail:
---------------------------------------------
Think of Trail as a visual diary. With Trail, you can privately track your adventures from start to finish, and later relive them using our mapping software.
Trail has two parts: the phone application and the website. The phone application tracks your trip using the GPS on your phone. The phone application also integrates seamlessly with your other apps, so you can take photos or send tweets as you normally would. Then, once your trip is complete, you can log into the website and view your data in a way that lets you see exactly how your adventure unfolded. A sample Trail can be found here: http://www.mytrailapp.com/viewtrail.php?id=211
We'd like you to mockup:
------------------------------------------------
- a loading screen with our logo
- a login screen
- a main screen -- this is the screen where it lists your trails. It has an Add Trail icon and a Settings icon, through which users can start new trails or adjust their settings. A screenshot of the current main screen is attached as a main.png. If you were wondering, the check mark next to some of the trails in the attached main.png indicates that those trails have been uploaded to the website.
- the "start trail" and "end trail" screens (a screen shot of the "start trail" screen is also attached as start.png. "Hahh" is the name of the trail in that image. The "end trail" screen is almost exactly the same but with the button saying End Trial rather than Start Trail).
The new design:
---------------------------------
With the current app design, we don't like:
- the low resolution / quality images.
- the exit button on the main screen. You can exclude this from your mockup.
- The current interface is not intuitive and self explanatory enough -- we had a lot of users asking us how to use the app after they downloaded it. So, apparently the app isn't as user friendly as we'd like. Maybe come up with some cool ways to solve this problem graphically.
- it just isn't that graphically interesting.
We'd like you to include:
- on the "End Trail" screen, please include somehow a button that says "Add Notes" and a button that says "Name This Point". Or, you can include icons rather than buttons with text. The idea is a user will be able to click the Add Notes button and it'll open a notepad where they can add information about their current location. Or, with "Name This Point", the user can input a name for their current location, for example "Bob's house".
Other than that, the design is up to you. Although having the app mesh well with our current website design would be nice, the current website design may change in the near future. So, go with your gut instinct as to what YOU think this app should look like based on your understanding of what Trail is and does. Make the design intuitive, user friendly, and look great. High quality images are a must.
Also, feel free to re-design our logo as part of the process. If we like your new logo design, we'll pay you extra for it.
Feel free to ask questions.

Commentaire de l'employeur
“Rathar did excellent work. He was able to take very limited information and generate an entire application design that was exactly what we were looking for. He quickly and professional made all changes we requested of him, and the quality of his work exceeded our expectations. Thanks Rathar!”
