Résumé de concours
In order to help pitch a new feature film at the Cannes Film Festival I have been asked to have a one-sheet designed by this weekend. As a fellow Freelancer designed the poster for another feature that was shot this year, I am looking forward to the posters you create with the intention that one of your posters will be the iconic design which will best reflect the movie we are looking to make to promote at both the festival and eventually at cinemas as we seek to have our film ready for the big screen.
The film is a suspense thriller with elements of horror but for the purpose of this poster I ask that we avoid blood and gore. The poster would also be 27" x 40" so please take this ratio into account when designing it.
PLEASE TRY TO AVOID MAKING IT LOOK LIKE A HORROR MOVIE. FOCUS ON THE THRILLER ELEMENT INSTEAD,
To provide further information to assist you in designing the poster here are more details regarding the film:
The movie is called 'Night Ride' and it is a road-trip thriller with the following logline: A hitcher is picked up by a family of serial killers and must use all his wits to escape.
The image of the poster is imagined as follows:
It is night and rain is pouring down over a highway with trees on each side (think forests or the woods). An imposing RV is travelling down the highway, its headlights blaring, but what we notice is the tinted window where a hand is pressed to it (look to the attached Psycho poster as reference) as if it is a victim desperate to escape. There is a crack in the window beside the hand where light from the van protrudes outwards.
There is mist in the atmosphere and far in the distance behind the van are the blue-and-red lights of police sirens.
I hope this information helps but should have more information to add tomorrow, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Your poster could be the one that will best reflect our movie, and help achieve in turning our concept and script into reality.
With this in mind I wish you the best of luck and look forward to viewing your entries.
A sketch has been added with notes to assist. Also added to help is a picture of an RV which is closer to what we are looking for (please note a family live inside so cars wouldn't be feasible), a couple of images that reflect the atmosphere, and an example of how the hand could appear.
Here is some more information which helps reflect the visual imagery of the movie, and thus hopefully the poster:
