catkin is a build system for building C/C++ and Python projects. I would like a logo designed for it which would be used on the website, and as the icon on it's github.com page. I would like it to be icon like, so I would imagine that means a square aspect ratio, but the basic rule of thumb is that it should look good as a gravatar.com image. I would like the logo to stick with the name's meaning, catkin is the blossom of the willow tree. If you google image search for catkin you will see what I am talking about. I would like the logo to be simple, no complex background or high level detail. I would prefer a simple design which is recognizable and clean looking. I don't care if it looks realistic, just identifiable. I attached some examples from google image search.

The traditional catkin shape is not producing a very nice looking icon, I would like to see some icons using the "pussy willow" catkin:

  By sealing the contest, designers can see only their designs, they can not see designs of each other...By this everyone will come up with his own design and they will not copy each other's designs.....The Contest Holder can see all submissions...!!!
