Contest Brief

We do one thing and we do it really well, we make bowties out of a variety of woods with a strip of fabric down the center. We are located in California and that is where we make out handcrafted wooden bowties. The name of our company is “California Bowties.”

In regards to the logo we are open to ideas. We did come up with one idea; and we thought it was pretty neat one. It was the famous California bear that can be found on our state flag. We thought t it would be cool if somehow the bear was wearing one of our bowties. I realize that the bear may need to be turned to show that he is wearing a bowtie or perhaps just the bear’s head showing above the words California Bowties.

The chosen logo will be branded on the back side of our bowties, used on our website as a graphic and also engraved onto our wood display boxes about 2” in diameter. The logo needs to be able to be used on all of these applications. The logo needs to be original and not copied.

I will be checking the freelancer website multiple times a day and providing feedback on the contest entries. Please post any questions on the board and I will respond promptly.

When you look at the logo the first thing you should see and think is "oh, that's the California State Bear wearing a bowtie." But the bowtie is made out of wood (maybe some wood grain) and there is a piece of fabric in the center of the bowtie (probably should have some kind of design or texture as well). Also, keeping with the theme, perhaps the font is the same one that is on the California state license plate which is in red and says "California". I believe the font is called "rage italic."
