I am getting ready to launch my new mobile application / website combination. The product is called Trail. Trail uses a mobile application to capture your GPS locations, photos, videos, and tweets as you travel. It uploads the data to our website, and you can interact with the data using our unique graphical interface.

The website is www.mytrailapp.com/index.php. Feel free to click the "See an example" link on the homepage (below the "What is Trail" section) to check out the mapping interface. Or, for a more in-depth look, sign up for an account and (after logging in) play with the Sample Trail in your account. The app interface is not yet finished and will likely change, so you don't need to include any shots of the app working in the video (not that you necessarily need to include shots of the website interface in the video, either).

We are looking to have a video made that captures the essence of Trail and is around 1:00 - 1:30 in length. There does not need to be any voice over on the video, just some background music. As a starting point, we really like the video on http://animoto.com. --> If you scroll down about half way, there is a video called "Canapolis Family Trip to Europe," which is pretty well done and is similar to the concept behind Trail. Of course, we don't require anything quite that intricate.

We would like the video to start and end with a white screen with the Trail logo centered in the middle, lasting about 3 seconds each time. What's in the middle is up to you. However, we recommend emphasizing traveling in a foreign country or walking around a city (since these are the two most likely uses of the app), that user's can add photos/videos/tweets to their Trail, and the scrapbook/timeline/memories concepts behind Trail. Of course, you don't need to emphasize these by stating them with text, feel free to show with animations or graphics or whatever.

You must own any material you use in the video, or it must be free for public use -- do not use the copyrighted material of others for our video.

About the map part, it is a photo zoomed in and then it zooms out, but i can see hoe it is not working and i have removed it.

So you want the map completly removed for the first part? Or maybe zoom inside a city and make there the tracking and maybe have some text over the trail signs saying "work", "restaurant", "night club" etc? I am making the changes right now, also if you have some free to use photos for the Grand canyon would be nice but if not i 'll come up with something. Thanks!

So, think of it as more of a personal journal. Another thing I should note is that Trail is not necessarily just for traveling. It could be for going on for the night in a new city, or for even just a hike or a walk in the park. Really, it's your own personal journal that you can use to log anything from trips around the world to your trip to the supermarket. Admittedly, my business partner have done a poor job in explaining that on the website -- most people think it's more of a travel app. This video may be a good place to showcase its other uses, whether that's going out barhopping with friends or hiking in the mountains.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I really love videos that "show" and don't tell. In other words, instead of saying "Trail is ___", I like showing more the practical features of the application, or how a user would actually use them, kind of like what the sample video I posted in the Contest Brief does, or any Google commercial (see for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4vkVHijdQk)
