Ok, so I have created an app that allows users to browse, rate and leave reviews for pubs and bars around the world.
I see the long-term future of the app to be a replacement for FourSquare and Tripadvisor with features that these services don't offer.

MY CONTEST: I want you to use our imagination and come up with a creative solution that will get people using my app regularly to rate and review pubs and bars around the world. Using my app to "checkin" as on FourSquare but the checkin on my app can post to Facebook, and generally interacting using my app.

Some foundation ideas would be connected to;

- communities, forums
- social media
- relevant websites
- external advertising
- guerrilla marketing
- creative competition ideas
- Video marketing

In addition to to the outline of this competition, I want the creative solution to be cost-free, creative and very clever.

I know one of you out there can come up with a very clever solution to get the party started and get users using my app. Once users do start using my app and talking to their friends about it, it will create a snowball effect so it's just about getting it rolling.

This is quite an easy way to make a little money from a competition as all you have to do to win the prize is come up with the "idea". You have to do nothing more than that.

I really look forward to hearing your ideas. Once the competition finishes, I will award the best idea the prize.

#11 So, I think you must involve as many as possible people with the simple fact they have a role. The sponsors - people that help the app and the community. The reviewers - they try to do the best reviews for the simple fact they already received help using the app from others reviews. The administrators - they try to redirect the goods from sponsors to some users: giving goods to people in the top will help the system to work in the best way: the quality of reviews will be better. Maybe it is ok to give goods for random users, too. These can be special offers from companies: Write your review for this place and you can win a special offer. So, there can be a great monetization: the companies will be happy to give some special offers for the users who give real appreciated reviews.

  Also http://www.timeout.com/newyork/things-to-do/best-bars-near-times-square is a step in the right direction with shorter reviews and pictures of the bar if you can get them. The bar owner can email them from their phone or people who submit a review with a good quality picture get preferential treatment when you consider their submission for acceptance.

  The bar reviews in google are interesting, the summary is easy to scan quickly, you could use tags so customers could filter by different criteria: how much it costs (number of dollar signs), positive ratings, beer only or hard alcohol, location, etc. And if you click on a bar the review is really easy to look at, and includes photos, so if ppl send you good photos you can put them on your server and link to them. If you make an app like this and it works well for bars, you could make make more targeting anyone who wants business, e.g. restaurants, art galleries, etc.
